HealthCare monitoring devices are changing medicine as we know it. The new technologies are emerging in the form of wearable devices as well as clothing that incorporate gadgets that send information about your overall wellbeing to your wireless device or wireless network. The information gathered can be seamlessly transferred to your doctor or a health professional with little to no effort.

Medical Alert on mobile device“There is increasing clinical evidence of the value of continuous physiological data in managing chronic diseases and monitoring patients’ post-hospitalization,” said Theo Ahadome, senior analyst at IMS Research. “As a result, a growing number of medical devices are becoming wearable, including glucose monitors, ECG monitors, pulse oximeters, and blood pressure monitors.” The market for wearable technologies in healthcare “is projected to exceed $2.9 billion in 2016, accounting for at least half of all wearable technology sales,” he said.

This technology is helping assisted living facilities better track and monitor patients with memory issues as well as providing doctors with a clearer snapshot of the over all health of patients while lowering costs and liabilities associated with transport to and from doctor offices.
