  XP-Wireless Access back to top  
  Disable Windows Firewall Click Start/Control Panel/Windows Firewall
Check Turn Off Windows Firewall button/Click OK
 
  Open Network Connections Click Start/Control Panel/Network Connections (Maximize window for a total view)  
  Configure Windows Wireless Settings Right-click Wireless Network Connection/Click Properties/Click Wireless  Networks Tab/ Check “Use Windows to Configure my Wireless network settings”/Click OK  
  Configure Internet Protocol

Right-Click Wireless Network Connection/Click Properties/Click Internet Protocol (TCPIP)/Click Properties/ Check Obtain an IP address automatically/ Check Obtain DNS server address automatically/Click OK/Click Close

Condition:      Disabled (Double-Click to Enable and WAIT up to 90 seconds)
Condition:      Not Connected (Go to: View Wireless Networks)

 
  View Wireless Networks

Double-Click Wireless Network Connection
Double Click “guestwifi” wireless network with strongest signal

NOTE:  During this time the display will read "Acquiring Network Address".  When an IP address is received it will display "Connected" and you will see the IP Address under Details in the lower left of the Network Connections Window.  A valid IP Address will read as follows "192.168.n.NNN” (where n=4 and NNN=51 to 200 or n=5,6, or 7 and NNN=1-254).  

If you receive a valid IP address, start a web browser (ie. Internet Explorer, Firefox)

If you do not receive a valid IP address try setting a static IP address (See below).  

 
  How To Set a Static IP Address  
  Open Network Connections Click Start/Control Panel/Network Connections (Maximize window for a total view)  
  Configure Internet Protocol

Right-Click Wireless Network Connection/Click Properties/Click Internet Protocol (TCPIP)/Click Properties/ Check Use the following IP address:

ENTER     IP address:                     192.168.4.NNN (NNN can be 201 to 250)
Subnet mask:                  255.255.255.0
Default gateway:            192.168.4.1

Check Use the following DNS server address:

ENTER     Primary DNS server:       192.168.4.1
Secondary DNS server:    4.2.2.2

Click OK/Click Close
Right-click Wireless Network Connection/Click Disable
Double-Click Wireless Network Connection (Wait 60 seconds)
Start a web browser (ie. Internet Explorer, Firefox)

 

  XP-Hardwire Access back to top  
  Disable Windows Firewall Click Start/Control Panel/Windows Firewall
Click Turn Off Windows Firewall button/Click OK
 
  Open Network Connections Click Start/Control Panel/Network Connections (Maximize window for a total view)  
  Local Area Connection Status Condition:      Network cable unplugged (Check your cable)
Condition:      Disabled (Double-Click to Enable)
Condition:      Connected (Configure Internet Protocol)
 
  Configure Internet Protocol

Right-Click Local Area Connection/Click Properties/Click Internet Protocol (TCPIP)/Click Properties/ Click Obtain an IP address automatically/Click Obtain DNS server address automatically/Click OK/Click Close

 
  Connect to the Network

Double-Click Local Area Connection (wait this can take up to 90 seconds). 

NOTE:  During this time the Local Area Connection icon will display "Acquiring Network Address".  When an IP address is received it will display "Connected" and you will see the IP Address under Details in the lower left of the Network Connections Window.  A valid IP Address will read as follows "192.168.n.NNN” (where n=4 and NNN=51 to 200 or n=5,6, or 7 and NNN=1-254) .  

If you receive a valid IP Address, start a web browser (ie. Internet Explorer, Firefox)

If you do not receive a valid IP address try setting a static IP address (See below).

 
  How To Set a Static IP Address    
  Open Network Connections Click Start/Control Panel/Network Connections (Maximize window for a total view)  
  Configure Internet Protocol

Right-Click Wireless Network Connection/Click Properties/Click Internet Protocol (TCPIP)/Click Properties/ Check Use the following IP address:

ENTER     IP address:                     192.168.4.NNN (NNN can be 201 to 250)
Subnet mask:                  255.255.255.0
Default gateway:            192.168.4.1

Check Use the following DNS server address:

ENTER     Primary DNS server:       192.168.4.1
Secondary DNS server:    4.2.2.2

Click OK/Click Close
Right-click Wireless Network Connection/Click Disable
Double-Click Wireless Network Connection (Wait 60 seconds)
Start a web browser (ie. Internet Explorer, Firefox)

  Disable Windows Firewall Click Start/Click Control Panel/Click Security/Click Windows Firewall/Click Change Settings/Click the Advanced tab/Remove the check beside the connection that you want to disable the Windows Firewall/Click OK.  
  Open Network Connections Click Start/Click Control Panel/ Click Network and Internet/ Click Network and Sharing Center/ Click Manage network connections.  
  Configure Windows Wireless Settings Click Start/ Click Control Panel/ Click Network and Internet/ Click Network and Sharing Center.  In the left pane, click Manage network connections
Right-click Wireless Network Connection/click Properties/Wireless Networks
tab/Check Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings/Click OK
 
  Configure Internet Protocol

Right-Click Wireless Network Connection/Click Properties/Click Internet Protocol (TCPIP V4)/Click Properties/ Check Obtain an IP address automatically/Check Obtain DNS server address automatically/Click OK/Click Close

Condition:      Disabled (Double-Click to Enable and WAIT up to 90 seconds)
Condition:      Not Connected (Goto: ViewWireless Networks)

 
  View Wireless Networks

Click Start/Click Connect to/Click Wireless/Click “guestwifi”/Click Connect.

If you don't see a “guestwifi” network:
Click Set up a connection or network/Click Manually connect to a wireless
network/Click Next.  Enter:
Network name: “guestwifi”
Set the security type and the encryption you use on your network (NONE)
Check Start this connection automatically
Click Next/Click Connect to
